For as long as I can remember, it's been a goal of mine to have an entire soundtrack for one of my films be comprised of a single artist's songs. I loved how that was done in movies like McCabe & Mrs. Miller (Leonard Cohen) and Harold & Maude (Cat Stevens).
I was honored and beyond grateful when Chip Godwin offered to let me use his songs. I'd had no luck finding the perfect artist for months prior and was close to giving up and opting to use a conventional score instead. It was a bit of good news right when I needed it most. Chip's songs are part of the fabric of the movie now; in fact they so often convey the exact emotions of the story that I ended up not needing some voice-overs I had originally intended to populate the soundtrack. You can hear all of the songs used in the film on Chip's Soundcloud page: https://soundcloud.com/chip-godwin. |
